Bring an appetite - and be amazed by the dishes served at Turk.

On the road to Celaya, on what has become a “gastronomical route” for locals and visitors, you can find many delightful meals. But few will resonate as strongly as Turk. The industrial, minimalistic decoration is deceptively simple, but every detail has been thought and worked over and over, designed to bring an experience of flavor and comfort, right from the moment you step above the delicate floor tiles that resemble a Persian rug.

Ali Sarraf has made an almost “full circle” coming back to the land of his ancestors - his grandmother, who was from San Luis Potosi, cooked in the kitchens of Pancho Villa all those years ago.

Of Persian/Mexican origin, he felt there was a void for this kind of cuisine and set out to open Turk and provide an alternative that is outstanding in craft, essence, and flavor. Their concise, well-crafted menu is mouthwatering: hummus, baba ganoush, crispy falafel, juicy kebabs, all perfectly cooked and masterfully executed. Try one of the mezze platters and then, order a kebab, sit back and enjoy one of the nicest meals in town.

The commitment and dedication to the business are palpable - over 30 years in the food and beverage industry have helped Ali hone the special skill of “… having the ability to "see"...to see and understand my clients needs while we are in service”.

As a San Miguel resident, Ali enjoys eating out “Anything "street food", ie tacos, or anyplace where abuelita is involved...it's the essence of Mexico, where love/food is given by hand to mouth!” On his own words, he enjoys this line of work “…because I am nuts. I suppose keeping in touch with people really drives me, I'm a social animal.”

This project is a work in progress - slowly cooked, taking its time like a nicely seasoned bit of lamb -  so be sure to keep an eye out for novelties - soon, you will be able to get a delicious brunch on the weekends.

Visit anytime from 1pm-9pm, Tuesday thru Sunday. And save space for Ali’s homemade Persian ice cream. You won’t regret it.
