Maybe it is because Vanessa Garay is one of San Miguel de Allende’s most accomplished Realtors that she was recently featured on House Hunters International (Tackling a Booming Market:  San Miguel de Allende). She is a native San Miguelian with a lifetime of connections, who has been dedicated to working in Real Estates since 2005. Her background working abroad plus her academic qualifications are part of the reason why she effortlessly understands clients of all nationalities. She is bi-cultural plus speaks English, Spanish, French and Italian fluently and conversational in German. We approached Vanessa to get an up-to-date insight into San Miguel’s current and future real estate trends.

What do you consider to be the most positive feature or advantage to buying Real Estate in San Miguel today?

Besides being a small city with many things to offer buyers (beauty, climate, people, culture, food etc.), San Miguel de Allende is an attractive market where real estate has increased in value in the last few years. Mexicans, as well as foreigners, know that buying property in San Miguel is a good investment and that the property will most likely appreciate well.

How is San Miguel de Allende perceived internationally for Real Estate?

International publications and television programs  (Condé Nast, Travel & Leisure, House Hunters International, among others) have highlighted San Miguel de Allende in very positive ways and some of them have even named it the best city in the world. This publicity, coupled with all of the wonderful things it offers, has made it a very popular destination and a "hot spot". For real estate, San Miguel de Allende is considered a strong, booming market that is growing rapidly. It is a beautiful place to visit, but it is also a great city to live, retire and invest in. Also, the cost of living is relatively inexpensive compared to many of the countries where buyers come from, and that is also a very attractive feature to international buyers.

What do you think the future of Real Estate will be in San Miguel?

I believe that San Miguel proper and the surrounding country-side will continue to be as strong of a market ( if not better) than it has been; however, it is impossible to predict what the future l will be as there are always variables that can affect the market.
